Our mission.

Info-security.net was designed as a free resource to help users of the Internet understand the risks associated with their daily interactions online. We hope to explain concepts in a way that even the most novice user will understand. As we mention various terms you may see our explanation of the term, as well as, a link to Wikipedia or another source for a more in-depth explanation of the term.

As we describe the concepts, we will also make recommendations as to which solutions might be a good fit. We will strive to find the highest quality solutions -- many of which are free or low cost.

Why create and maintain a site for free?

The owner of Info-security.net has worked in the information technology field for many years and the computer security field specifically since 2001. Whether working with corporate, government, academic or home users he noticed that many individuals lacked the basic foundation to protect themselves from today’s risks and threats found on the Internet. After many requests from friends, this site was born as a resource to share his knowledge around the “basics of computer security.”

This site will remain free. To cover hosting and advertising costs, ads will be displayed on several pages from various sponsors.
